The Empire Died On The Road To Damascus

The empire Has Lost The Confidence Of all The People of the planet. They Have Lost the stealth enjoyed by the spy agencies. They have lost the power of the controlled media. They have lost the military. They have roused the ogre of satanic zionism which can no longer coast in stealth under the cover of false flags.

What had previously passed for money lies exposed as a giant ponzi scheme.
And, as is an overdue debt, with everyone watching, it has finally happened...

The Empire has died on the road to Damascus: My activism began as a child before the election of Kennedy.

Kennedy’s Finest Moment

MEDFORD, Mass. — JUNE 11, 1963, may not be a widely recognized date these days, but it might have been the single most important day in civil rights history.

That morning, Gov. George Wallace, in an effort to block the integration of the University of Alabama, made his futile “stand at the schoolhouse door.”

That evening, Boston N.A.A.C.P. leaders engaged in their first public confrontation with Louise Day Hicks, the chairwoman of the Boston School Committee,

How to destroy the future

From the Cuban missile crisis to a fossil fuels frenzy, the US is intent on winning the race to disaster

'What happened in the missile crisis in October 1962 has been prettified to make it look as if acts of courage and thoughtfulness abounded.

What is the future likely to bring? A reasonable stance might be to try to look at the human species from the outside.

Why I would go to jail for my journalistic beliefs

Journalism in Greece has had nothing to do with the truth of late, as my trial for publishing a list of potential tax dodgers shows

Greek journalist Kostas Vaxevanis is escorted by plain-clothed police officers to the public prosecutor in Athens.

Τι αντιπροσωπεύει στ’ αλήθεια το «όχι» της Κυπριακής Βουλής;

'I would like to see a church that is poor and is for the poor'

Pope Francis declares: 'I would like to see a church that is poor and is for the poor'
Lizzy Davies in Vatican City

Pope Francis meets thousands of journalists from around the world.

As he walked on to the stage of the Vatican's vast Paul VI audience hall on Saturday, Pope Francis was still wearing the white cassock, plain crucifix and black shoes that have characterised his fledgling papacy's pared-down aesthetic.

Pope Rambo I.

Pope Wanted. Must Possess Magnetic Charm. And Grit.

ROME — No candidate for pope can have it all. But the cardinals who will elect the next pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church seem to be looking for someone who combines the charisma of Pope John Paul II with the grit of what one Vatican analyst called, only slightly tongue in cheek, “Pope Rambo I.”

Sharks at risk of extinction from overfishing, say scientists

Sharks risk being driven to extinction due to overfishing, with almost 100 million killed each year, scientists have warned.

Many species of shark need better protection to prevent their extinction within coming decades, researchers warned in advance of a global conference on the trade in threatened species.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites) will consider greater protection of vulnerable sharks, including porbeagles, oceanic whitetip and three types of hammerhead to preserve their populations.

The Paranoia of the Superrich and Superpowerful

Washington’s Dilemma on a “Lost” Planet

[This piece is adapted from “Uprisings,” a chapter in Power Systems: Conversations on Global Democratic Uprisings and the New Challenges to U.S. Empire, Noam Chomsky’s new interview book with David Barsamian (with thanks to the publisher, Metropolitan Books).  The questions are Barsamian’s, the answers Chomsky’s.]

The relevance of George Orwell to Today

The relevance of George Orwell to Today
"Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious..."

Orwell’s 1984 (along with Animal Farm) are subject to a misunderstanding  that they ‘predict’ the future, whereas really they should be seen more as statements of commonly-held present-day ideas and the dangers inherent in these ideas.

It is ironic that these works have been subject to the same forces that they warn against. For example the statement that “All animals are equal but some are more equal than others” was intended by Orwell to be a satire on the American Declaration of Independence and the way it used a similar phrase about equality while simultaneously forming the basis for a slave-owning state.
