Garbage alchemists transform junk into design gold

In austerity Greece, junk is being turned into new, beautiful but useful objects.

This is Scoopa, a project run by an architect, a craftsman, a shop manager and an artist. They call themselves garbage alchemists.

Looking for a more sustainable lifestyle, they 'upcycle' the things that everyday folk leave behind. But instead of simply restoring a familiar object to its original function, they use their flair for design to modify it for a new purpose, turning it into a highly personal, functional work of art. The film is part of the Energy Bits (eBits) project
